Welcome to something a little different for us here at Morimoto. This is our first-ever vlog, and we could not think of a better way to kick it off than by loading up the rigs, meeting some incredible overlanders, and heading to Windrock Park for a weekend of trails, camping, and testing our newest product in the real world. We wanted to see how the Morimoto 4 Banger off-road lights hold up when the sun goes down and the trails get gnarly, so we brought along a convoy of Jeeps, Toyotas, and even a Ford Raptor to find out. Grab a seat by the fire and follow along.
Kicking Off Morimoto’s First-Ever Vlog
The whole idea behind this trip was simple. We had a fresh batch of 4 Banger off-road lights, a crew of overlanders who love to get dirty, and an invitation to sponsor the Venture Unknown overlanding event. Before we even hit the highway, we gassed up the rigs and introduced the man behind the lens. If you have been enjoying our recent content on the website and social channels, a lot of that is thanks to Sean, our photographer and editor, who tagged along to capture every muddy moment of this adventure.

Every vehicle in our group was running the newest product from our lineup, the 4 Banger. If you know anything about off-roading, you know these lights are meant to throw serious output where you need it, whether that is a ditch light setup, an A-pillar mount, or a fog light location. We had a mix of builds rolling out that morning, and each one was outfitted a little differently, which made this the perfect chance to see how versatile the system really is across different platforms.
Murphy’s Law: When Off-Roading Gets Real
If you know anything about off-roading or aftermarket adventures, you know that things happen. We were barely out of the gate, sitting on the side of the road waiting to meet up with the rest of the crew, when one of our buddies had a rough time. After slamming on the brakes and hitting a massive pothole, the metal on the right side of his suspension eventually fatigued. His wheel bearing went out, which caused the lower control arm to break, which then snapped the CV axle and pulled the whole front wheel and tire back into the fender.

It was unfortunate, but the number one priority was that everyone walked away okay. One of our buddies stayed behind to help track down parts, and while we were not sure he would make it back for the rest of the weekend, safe and sound is what matters most. He is officially part of the car club now, complete with a creative hazard sign. That kind of camaraderie is exactly what this community is about, and it set the tone for the rest of the trip.
Rolling Into Windrock Park
After picking up a few more crew members and some extra supplies at Cabela’s, including some awesome female overlanders joining the group, we pointed the convoy toward Tennessee. Three hours of driving later, minus our one sidelined friend, every vehicle rolled into Windrock Park safe and sound with no further issues. That reliable drive gave everyone time to settle in and get excited for what was ahead.

Windrock Park sits in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, and it is a monster of a destination. We are talking 73,000 acres with over 300 miles of trails, which makes it one of the best off-road facilities in the South. With that much terrain, we knew we would have plenty of opportunity to push our rigs and our lighting through a serious variety of conditions, from rocky climbs to water crossings.
Setting Up Camp
Once we arrived, it was time to get camp set up. We joked about glamping, but this weekend was far from it. Sometimes it is just nice to live a little on the rugged side, and there is something about pitching a tent surrounded by your crew that makes the whole trip feel worthwhile. To adventure, as we kept saying.

With camp squared away and waivers signed, it was time for the driver’s speech. All the captains got on channel 17.33 with the right security code so we had solid comms across the group. This is a step you do not want to skip when you have a big convoy spread out on tight trails. Once everyone was locked in, we were ready to head out for our very first run here at Windrock.
Hitting the Trails
The daytime runs were an absolute blast. We had our buddy Luis from Inco 4×4 Off-Road serving as our off-road Uber, and if you did not know, he actually runs an Airbnb adventure experience. If you do not have your own rig or you do not know the area, he takes care of everything and you just bring your hiking shoes. He is a genuinely nice guy and part of the Morimoto crew, so we had to give him a shout.

We tackled trail number 26 and it was a wild little ride. We took a few breaks to let the vehicles cool down and chill for a bit, and the good news is nobody broke anything on that stretch. When one trail closed, we simply pivoted and took the water trail instead, heading out toward the middle and then to the end. That flexibility is part of the fun of a place this massive.
Seeing how many different builds ran the 4 Banger reminded us how many fitment options exist across the lineup. Jeep owners can grab the 4Banger ditch light system for the Jeep Wrangler JL, while 4Runner folks have the 4Banger A-Pillar kit built for the 4Runner. If you want to see everything at once, the full Banger Off-Road lighting lineup lays out the whole family so you can match the setup to your own rig.
Chili, Camaraderie, and the Night Runs
Back at camp, we timed our return perfectly for a chili cook-off. We got to judge multiple different cook-off areas from something like eight or ten people, and let me tell you, one of them even served up a birthday cake that was chef’s kiss level. There is nothing quite like heading back onto the track with a good chili and bean belly. Events like these are just as much about the food and the fellowship as they are about the trails.
Then came the moment we had been waiting for. We are Morimoto Lighting, and we really wanted to put our 4 Bangers to the test after dark. For the night runs, we hopped into the Toyota Tacoma to see how well everything would perform once the trails went pitch black.

The verdict was immediate. As you can see in the video, they light up the night like no other, and everyone running them was absolutely loving the results. That is exactly what you want to hear when you are wheeling through unfamiliar terrain in the dark, where visibility is everything. The Tacoma led the way and the whole convoy benefited from the added output.
If you are shopping for a fog light location setup, you can find the 4Banger fog light kit for the Toyota 4Runner at Headlight Revolution, and for those who want a wider spread of light, there are HXB Wide Beam pods available through The Retrofit Source. Picking the right beam pattern for your driving style makes a real difference once you are out on the trail.
Sponsoring Venture Unknown
We were hoping for a Sunday winter wonderland and instead got a nice wet Sunday, but that did not dampen the mood. We were thrilled to sponsor our very first overlanding event with Venture Unknown. To celebrate, we gave away a set of new 4 Bangers along with loads of other items, and we cannot wait to see how they look mounted up on some of these rigs.

To everyone who came out and everyone heading home, we reminded the crew to be safe on the drive back. We love this community, and we are so grateful for everyone who made this weekend special. If you are the type who likes to handle your own installs, we also have plenty of guides to help, like our install guide for the Morimoto XB headlights on a 2019+ Ram 1500, so you can get your lighting dialed in before your next trip.
Final Thoughts From the Trail
That is a wrap for our very first Morimoto vlog. We got to spend a weekend with the Venture Unknown crew at Windrock Park, watch a bunch of different vehicles run our 4 Banger off-road lights through demanding daytime and nighttime trails, and prove to ourselves just how well these lights perform when it matters. Between the trail runs, the chili cook-off, the camping, and the giveaway, this was everything we hoped a Morimoto adventure could be. Do not forget to like, subscribe, and comment, and stay tuned for more vlog content coming your way.
